Hmars need ‘good leader’, says Dr Fimate

Rengkai: Former Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) director Dr. L.Fimate who is planning to contest from Tipaimukh Constituency in Hmarram, Manipur, said that the “most important need of the Hmars (in Tipaimukh area) is a good leader.”
In an interview with Sawrtui magazine (August Issue), Dr. Fimate said that he will now give “full time” to the cause of the Hmar people living in Hmarram area of Manipur.
The next Manipur assembly elections will be held in 2012 and Tipaimukh Constituency is likely to witnessed a triangular battle among former Health Minister Dr. Chaltonlien Amaw, incumbent minister Mr Sanglura and Dr. L. Fimate.
Dr. Fimate also revealed his wife’s opposition to enter the political arena. “She wanted me serve the Hmar people not necessarily by becoming a MLA,” the magazine quoted him as saying.
