Bihar Assembly elections from Oct 21

New Delhi: Assembly elections in Bihar will be held in six phases from 21st of October to 20th of November. While, the first three phases will be held on 21st, 24th, and 28th of October, the remaining phases will be held on Ist, 9th and 20th of November.

The counting will take place on the 24th of November. Announcing the election schedule for the 243 Assembly seats in Bihar, the Chief Election Coommissioner Dr S.Y Quraishi said, the dates have been decided after taking into consideration several aspects including the festivals, the availability of central forces and law and order situation.

The bye election to Banka Lok Sabha constituency, which fell vacant after the death of Digvijay Singh will be held on the Ist of November in the fourth phase.

Mr Quraishi said that there are more than 5 crore 50 lakh voters in the State. Model code of conduct has come into force from today itself. Over 82 per cent voters have election identity cards.
