WiMax services launch in Aizawl
Minister of state for Communications and IT Sachin Pilot.
Union Minister of State for Communication & Information Technology Shri Sachin Pilot yesterday inaugurated WLL MSC (Wireless in Local Loop Mobile Switching Centre) at Thuampui Telephone Exchange in Aizawl and thereafter at the I & PR Conference Hall, he launched EVDO Services and announced WiMAX Services in Aizawl.
He was accompanied by Mr. Zodintluanga Minister Information Technology Mizoram and senior BSNL officials. After launching the services, he had a Press Conference at the same venue with media persons (print & electronic) of Aizawl.
BSNL officials said that with the commissioning of the MSC, mobile service disruptions due to OFC damage between Shillong and Aizawl will become less. The MSC at Thuampui has two BTS ( Base Transciever Station) which can provide EVDO services to about 1200 subscribers, BSNL officals said. Futher they added that three more BTS at Aizawl and one BTS at Lunglei will be commissioned soon.
