TTADC gets additional responsibilities

Agartala, 28 July: The ruling leftist Government in Tripura has decided to transfer more control to Tripura Tribal Area Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) on Tuesday to speed up tribal development.
The State Tribal Welfare Minister, Aghore Debbarma said that TTAADC would take charge of seven more departments including the State Finance of Panchayat Department and ICDS of Social welfare department in addition to existing five departments. He further stated that initially this decision would be implemented in North Tripura and Dhalai districts out of total four districts.
The decision bears a lot of importance in the face of recent spurt of child deaths in Kanchanpur sub division under North Tripura mainly owing to malnutrition. The Congress Party alleged developmental and social security schemes were not implemented in tribal areas properly causing severe health deficiencies among the kids and expectant mothers.
