Manipur scribes back to work
Churachandpur: The Manipur Hill Journalists’ Union, MHJU, have settled scores with the Hmar Peoples’ Convention, HPC(D), over the latter’s act of intimidating the Churachandpur based correspondent of the Sangai Express on July 21 at about 11: 45 am after intruding into his home.
The development came after a meeting between the MHJU and HPC(D) yesterday from 4 pm at Churachandpur.
The HPC(D) leaders were led by its town commanders and the meeting lasted for about an hour in which the leaders tendered an ucnonditional apology to the MHJU for the incident and gave an assurrance that the cadres reponsible for the incident would be given a befitting punishment apart from promise that such incidents would not be allowed to happen in future.
The HPC(D) made an official apology in a statement issued by its publicity officer John F Hmar stating disciplinary action has been awarded to the accused cadres along with a promise that this type of indisciple on part of the cadres of the outfit would not happen in future.
Subsequently, the MHJU has called off all its agitational programmes and resumed normal duties from July 23.
