Shooting for the most awaited Mizo film of the year 2010, ‘KHAWNGLUNG RUN’ (The Raid of Khawnglung), was completed on July 13 morning, reports Vulmawi Daily.

According to the daily, the budget for this film is around Rs 7 lakh and may even go beyond that, making it the “most expensive Mizo film” ever made. The film which involves hundreds of volunteers besides utilities, vehicles and others is expected to hit the screen by September or October, the report added.

“Khawnglung Run is a historical film set in the 1850s,” Mizoramexpress.com sources said, adding that the film will focus mainly on the love angle between Chala and Thangieven even as it depicts the war between the Northern and Southern chiefs. Khawnglung is a village in Lunglei district and about 147 km from Aizawl.

For making this film, around 30 houses were constructed and later burned down. The number people involved in this film  also stood at somewhere around 400.

“Since, the shooting was done during the monsoon the crew had to undergo a lot of hardship and one person had to be admitted to a hospital,” the report said.

Shooting for the film was done mainly in and around Lunglei, Thenzawl, Vanva River, Mat River and Tlawng River. (See pictures)
