Bangalore: Airtel prepaid mobile phone subscribes had a harrowing time on Monday as they were unable to make outgoing call or send SMSes for over 4 hours.
“Not only was I was not able to make outgoing calls but can’t even check my prepaid balance,” said Anita Nair.
When contacted, Airtel customer care people replied that there was “something wrong” at their end. “We’re very sorry for the inconvenience. Please bear with us. The service will be back after 4 hours,” was the polite answer received.
Even though, the service was restored by around 7.00 pm, some people said that they were still not able to make calls. However, by 10.00 pm, everything was back to normal.
Even though Airtel has not spelled out the reason for the problem, security experts said that the problem could be because of new products or softwares.
“I never thought I would use this service. But Airtel MO has just failed me.. Full network yet no net,” said upset Joe Veliyath.
