Training on school safety held in Aizawl

Aizawl: Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Minister Shri Nihar Kanti Chakma inaugurated  a ‘Training on School Safety” at Central YMA Hall on on June 17, government statement said.

The Minister addressed the participants and said that Mizoram is fortunate for not coming across grave disasters, yet it is very necessary to be prepared in advance. Disaster Management committees were set up at state, district, block and village levels and trainings had been conducted every year. The Minister expressed that school safety training is very essential to ensure the safety of students in case of possible natural calamities. He inaugurated the training with wishes of success to the teachers attending the training.

The inaugural function was presided over by Rohmingliana Secretary, DM & R. Dominic Lalhmangaiha State Project Officer, GoI – UNDP DRR Program gave the keynote address and Dr. Lalrokima Chenkual Head Faculty, DMC, ATI explained the objectives of the Course. The training is to be held on 16 – 18 June, 2010.
