‘Sex guru’ Nityananda gets bail

Bangalore: Self-style godman Swami Nityananda who had been arrested on rape and other charges was granted bail by the Karnataka High Court on Friday.
The High Court granted him bail, observing that the Karnataka police had “not been able to gather adequate evidence” to hold him in custody and that no witnesses had been produced in court in over 50 days.
Nityananda, however, was told to pay a bond of Rs 1 lakh.
The ‘swami’ was caught on camera with a Tamil actress Ranjitha in a compromising position. The police had changed him for “criminal acts” including rape.
