NLUP is for uplifment of poor farmers: Lal Thanhawla

Aizawl: Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla said the aim of New Land Use Policy is to assist and uplift the poor farmers who cannot achieve sufficiency in food production.
Addressing the State Level Workshop on NLUP in Tourist Lodge, Chaltlang on June 11, the Chief Minister said that NLUP will not only benefit the poor farmers but also the society as a whole in protection and preservation of forest and wildlives.
Referring to appreciation of NLUP by the Centre, the Chief Minister said, the Planning Commission expects Mizoram to take up the project as a pilot project which will be adopted in future by other States.
Lal Thanhawla informed the gathering that Implementing Committees have been set up in the State Level, District Level and Village Level for successful implementation of the project.
The meeting was also addressed by the Agriculture Minister, Mr. H. Liansailova and the Implementing Board Secretary, Mr. PL Thanga. The workshop was organized for enlightening MLAs, Church leaders, MJA members and intellectuals. It was presided over by NLUP Implementing Board Chairman, Mr. R.Selthuama.
