Oil palm tress
Aizawl: Plantation of oil palm in five districts of the State is in full progress.
More seedlings are being made available for the farmers this year and the Department has raised oil palm nursery in Saihapui, Bawngva, Mat phairuam and Rotlang Farm for meeting the demand of the farmers.
The nurseries were visited recently by the Agriculture Director, Mr. P. Bhattacherjee.
It may be recalled that plantation of oil palm in Mamit and Kolasib District is sponsored by Godrej Oil Palm Ltd. while plantation in Serchhip District is under Foods Fats & Fertilizers Ltd. In Lunglei District, plantation of oil palm is under the supervision of Ruchi Soya Industries Ltd.
