Eight Bru refugee families return home in Mizoram
Aizawl: Eight Bru families taking shelter in Kaiskau and Asapara Camp in Tripura returned to Mizoram on May 15, police sources said.
Seven families proceeded to their former village Damdiai from Asapara while 1 family proceeded to Kolalian from Kaiskau. As stated earlier, 8 members of one family arrived in Kanhmun the day before from Naisingpara camp to go to Chuhvel village.
Meanwhile the Home Minister, Mr. R. Lalzirliana said, the Bru families who are expected to return to Mizoram are demanding arrangement of transport for their movement which is being considered by the Government.
In reply to questions in the Press Conference in Chief Minister’s Office this afternoon, the Home Minister however said that he has not received information from the officers sent to Tripura for arrangement of their transport. Intervening in the reply to this question, Chief Minister Pu Lal Thanhawla said, the Bru Camps in Tripura are being used by the militants as their safe haven and the leaders of the Camp have enriched themselves.
He also expressed doubt about masive home coming of the Bru refugees
