Mizoram oil tanker drivers call off strike
Aizawl: Mizoram Oil Tanker Driver Association has called off their indefinite strike from 3 p.m. yesterday afternoon. The decision to call off the strike was taken after talks with the Director of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Mr. H. Lallungmuana in his office.
In the meeting, representatives of Supply Department and MIZOFED underlined the need for control of oil quality by strictly enforcing the Marketing Guideline and Motor spirit and High Speed Diesel Regulation and Supply Distribution and Prevention of Malpractices Order-2005.
The Supply Department and MIZOFED informed them that regular checking of oil density will be taken up to ensure good quality petrol and diesel oil supply. The Oil Tanker Driver Association also agreed to cooperate the Government and MIZOFED to ensure good quality oil supply.
As already reported, Supply Department and MIZOFED had already agreed to accept point 002 as acceptable density variation because of variation in temperature of Silchar and Mizoram. Meanwhile the stocks of petrol and diesel oil in the Petrol Pumps have depleted and scarcity of petrol has begun. Most of the Petrol Pumps in Aizawl have no stock of petrol except 3000 litres reserved by the Government in each petrol pump for meeting any eventuality. High speed Diesel oil is however available in most of the petrol pumps except in Mizofed where the pump remained defective.
