Drink and loss weight
{All4Women Feature}
It may seem like a pipe dream, but you really can jump start your weight loss routine by making sure that you are drinking plenty of water.
While cutting calories and increasing exercise are extremely important, so too is ensuring that your body is properly hydrated.
Since our bodies are made up of about 70% water, water is obviously essential to their function and it can have a direct influence on weight loss.
The standard thought is that drinking eight 250ml glasses of water a day is right for everyone, but that may not necessarily be true.
In order to determine how much water you need to consume in a day, you need to take your weight and activity level into consideration.
People who are more active will likely need more water than those who are not and the heavier you are, the more water you will likely need.
Water can be helpful when it comes to losing weight for several reasons.
Not only does it help to keep all of the systems in your body functioning properly, which in turn allows your body to burn calories and convert fat into energy more efficiently, but drinking water can also keep you from over-eating.
Hunger may be thirst
What many people don’t realize is that often, when you think you are experiencing hunger pangs, what you are feeling is actually thirst. When you feel hungry, drink a glass of water first and that may take the feelings away entirely.
If it doesn’t, it will help you to feel fuller and prevent you from eating too much.
Don’t drink too much
It is possible to drink too much water, which can lead to a potentially deadly condition known as water toxicity, so it is very important to drink carefully.
Have a glass of water with each meal, drink before and after exercising, and take small sips throughout the day and that should give you more than enough water for your body’s needs.
Water has no calories!
Another reason that water can help you to lose weight is rather obvious; it has no calories or other additives.
Many other popular drinks, particularly carbonated drinks, are full of sugar, and that not only makes them bad for you but bad for losing weight.
A can of soda here and there may not seem like a lot, but it can drive calorie totals up much quicker than most of us realise, and the sugar in fizzy drinks can actually cause you to become dehydrated even though you are drinking.
Reach for a glass of water
If you are serious about losing weight, you need to train yourself to reach for a glass of water rather than a can of soda.
You can also get water from some foods, including soup, vegetables and fruits, so it shouldn’t be as difficult as you might think to get the necessary amount of water every day. And the difference can be quite noticeable!
There is no quick fix or miracle approach when it comes to losing weight, but drinking enough water every day is a vital part of any weight loss approach. Get the right amount of water in your daily routine and you can be drinking yourself to a slimmer, sleeker you before you know it!
