Chakma Autonomous District Council will stay, says Mizoram CM
Chawngte/Kamala Nagar: Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lal Thanhawla assured the Chakmas in the state that their autonomy will be protected within the framework of Chakma Autonomous District Council.
Addressing a function held in Kamalanaar Playground yesterday in connection with celebration of the 39th anniversary of Chakma Autonomous District Council, the Chief Minister said that the Autonomous District Council will continue to exist despite attempts made by some people to dissolve it.
Referring to the Indo-Bangladesh Border Trade in Tlabung sector and conversion of Lunglei-Tlabung road into the State Highway, the Chief Minister said that the western belt including the pottential area inhabited by the Chakmas will be linked with proper road communication in the near future.
Lal Thanhawla was accompanied by the Deputy Speaker, Mr. John Rotluangliana, AH & Vety Minister, Mr. Niharkanti Chakma and the Chief Executive Member of Chakma Autonomous District Council, Mr. Kali Kumar Tongtongia.
