Mizoram creates history for World’s Largest Bamboo Dance

Aizawl, March 12, 2010: Mizoram enters the Guinness Book of Records today for organizing the World Largest Bamboo Dance show here in the state capital.

Altogether, 10,736 dancers from across the state participated in the event held at Lammual field. Dancers lined up from Chanmari to Sikulpuikawn during the 8-minute mega show.

Guinness Book of Records adjudicator Lucia Sinigagliesi who flew in all the way from London handed the certificate recognizing the event to Mizoram Art & Culture Minister Pu P.C. Zoram Sangliana on the spot.

According to official release, all the dancers coming to Aizawl from rural areas will be given an award tomorrow morning while those from Aizawl will get their prizes on March 15.

Mizoram Governor Lt. Gen. (Rtd.) M.M. Lakhera while lauding the efforts of the government and organizing officials said that March 12 has become another landmark for the state.
