Mizo woman clears OTA course; inducted into Army
Chennai, March 21, 2010: After 11 months of rigorous training at the prestigious Officers Traning Academy in St. Thomas Mount here, 118 young men and women from different States joined the Indian Army after a passing out parade yesterday. Among them was a Mizo lady, Miss Lt. Mercy Kimpui.
Lt. Kimpui becomes one of the first Mizo women to pass out from the Officers Training Academy, according to sources. She was one of the 26 women who took an oath during the induction ceremony into the Indian Army which was reviewed by Lieutenant General P.C.Bharadwaj, Vice Chief of Army Staff.
Lt-Gen Bharadwaj urged the young men and women to develop a global outlook and in-depth understanding of international affairs and security calculus.
Lt.Kimpui will be stationed as officer at the Army Ordnance Corps in Chennai.
Nearly 24,000 men and women officers had been trained at OTA.
