Mizo students want PM to apologise for bombing Mizoram
Aizawl, March 6, 2010: The powerful Mizo Students Union (Mizo Zirlai Pawl) has demanded a public apology from prime Minister Manmohan Singh for the bombing of civilian settlements in the state by the Indian Air Force on March 5, 1966.
The bombing took place after the Mizo National Front led by the late Pu Laldenga declared independence from India and is observed as ‘Zoram Ni’ (Mizoram Day) on March 5 by the Mizo Zirlai Pawl.
“The Prime Minister and the Union government must tender a public apology for what the Indian Air Force and the army did to the innocent civilians in Mizoram in 1966, chairman of the North East Students Organisation (NESO), Samujal Bhattacharyya said at a function here.

I fully support MSU for this move. It is very logical demand. The have got their demand for apology from the prime minister and now they are demanding justice for the affected people. The PM should not only apologise, he should order an inquiry into the circumstances and the consequences of the bombing in which many lives were lost.
I also demand justice for the Mizo women who were brutally raped by the aramymen.
