Lalthanhawla hits back at MNF
Aizawl, March 6, 2010 (Zonet): Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee President, Mr. Lal Thanhawla said, the attempts made by the MNF leaders to nail him down proved to be a failure.
Addressing a function held in the Congress Bhawan on March 1, the Congress President said, a PIL in this connection was submitted to the Police by the former Pastor and the Congress did not want to wind it up while it was in power and the PIL was renewed by the MNF when it came to power with an apparent intention to nail him down.
Referring to persecution of Christians in different parts of the country, the Chief Minister said, the BJP, RSS and the Bajrang Dal are responsible for it. He also alleged that the political ally of these Parties is MNF. On restoration of peace in the State after 20 years of insurgency in the State, the Chief Minister said, the instrument utilized by Almighty to respond the prayer of the people is the Congress. He also claimed that the rule of the Congress at the Centre and other states guarantees peaceful co-existence among different communities and reiligions living in the country.
Mr. Lal Thanhawla also made a strong remark that the MNF has to thank the Congress all the time for paving the way to settlement of insurgency problem in the State.
Referring to NLUP, the Party flagship policy, the Chief Minister said, the assistance to be given to the beneficiaries is a public money which should not be misused in any manner. He warned in advance that the beneficiaries who misuse the cash and material assistance will have to repay the assistance along with the interest as per rule. He also said that the assistance will be disbursed in the next financial year.
The Senior Vice President of the Party, Mr. R. Lalzirliana also said, the Congress Government is trying to prevent recurrence of a grusome incident like the mysterious death of Rev. Chanchinmawia. The meeting was presided over by the Party Treasurer, Mr. H. Liansailova.
