The Heart of a Child

Ever wish you could go back in time,
Back to that distant starting line,
Where your life began, and made no sense,
And all that filled our hearts was innocence.
Those were the days you’ll always miss,
The laughter, the fun, the childhood bliss,
When the world was our playground,
And smiles were everywhere to be found.

Now tarnished are those hearts of ours,
Withered by time like fragile flowers,
Scarred by pain, loss, tears, heartbreaks,
Often a smile we tend to fake.
Life seems to be a constant panorama,
Filled with episodes of unending drama,
Where do we stand when were so confused?
When so much, to us, has been refused…

At times like these you need a little thinking,
To keep you afloat before you start sinking
And realize that goodness can come from all of this,
That’s the little spot we often tend to miss.
What do you lose when you show a smile?
Or for a friend, you run an extra mile?
Let there be no trouble too big or too small,
To anyone in need, be there for them all!

Change if you must, but always remember
That you should change only for the better.
Learn to love, and learn to give it away,
You never know whose life you might change today.
Because your life has a purpose, a reason,
Just like every changing season.
And if you look inside yourself, I’m sure you’ll find
The soul of an angel, the heart of a child.
