BSNL launches 3G mobile service in Manipur
New Delhi, March 24, 2010: The state-owned BSNL yesterday launched its 3G services in Imphal.
It may be mentioned that Mizoram, last year, became the first state in the northeast to have the third generation mobile technology. Officials from BSNL said that the technology has been a boon to the hilly state as it ‘revolutionised’ the communication system ‘with many people being able to get internet connection through the mobile service’.
The service in Manipur will be expanded to other parts of the state soon. According to BSNL sources, Thoubal, Churachandpur and Senapati districts in Manipur in the coming days.
BSNL is marching ahead in providing 3G services in India. The telecom giant has already covered states such as Kerala, Orissa, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. It will cover many other states soon.
