Three former Mizo rebels held

Aizawl, Feb 10, 2010 (Zonet): Three former Mizoram Underground Returnees Association (MURA) members were arrested by the Police yesterday in connection with their alleged involvement in the kidnap of Halim, a businessman having connection with some Mizo traders.

According MURA press release, three former MURA members, H. Lallungmuana of Thuampui Veng, PC Muana of Dawrpui West and R. Lalramliana of Saitual village kidnapped Halim on the 31st of January and detained him in a jhum hut near Zemabawk Helipad.

MURA also accused the kidnappers of demanding 15 thousand rupees as ransom money.

On the basis of the FIR submitted to the Police by RMI and Pari, the Police arrested the three accused in Chanmari yesterday.

Further investigation is on.
