Party calls Congress govt ‘Nuamtawl sorkar’

Aizawl, Feb 27, 2010 (Zonet): Re-elected Mizo National Front president Pu Zoramthanga said that re-organization of the party was needed to strengthened and to regain power in future.

Addressing the Party General Assembly in Vanapa Hall on Wednesday (Feb 24) Pu Zoramthanga said he is responsible for the debacle in the Assembly elections held in 2008 and appologized for the poor performance of the Party in that election.

Referring to the economic policy of the MNF Government during 1998-2008, Pu Zoramthanga said, the Party leaders admitted that some blanders were made when the MNF was in power during the period and this will not be repeated as the Party leaders have got clear vision for its economic policy.

Listing the Party’s priority, he said, production, processing and marketting are the need of the people for economic development and these have to be supported by good system of transport so that the produce can be marketted to other places.

Refering to the performance of Congress Government, the former chief minister said, the Government had not done anything meaningful for development of the people during the last one year and the Party which review the Congress Government’s performance issued a booklet and titled ‘Nuamtawl sorkar’.

The Conference was presided over by the Party Senior Vice President, Pu Tawnluia. In the afternoon session Pu Tawnluia, Vice President Pu R. Tlanghmingthanga and Treasurer Pu Vanlalzawma also addressed the Party workers.

In a resolution the Party expressed gratitude for uncontested election of the official candidates for the Party Office Bearers.

It also blamed the Congress Government for not continuing many projects and schemes initiated by the MNF Government which included distribution of free ration to the poor families and the Health Care Scheme which benefitted families where there is no Government servant. The Party also urged the Congress Government to fulfill its election promises including payment of one lakh rupees to each families under NLUP.
