Green tips for your computer
Here are a few green tips for your computer, whether you use one at home or the office. Nearly everyone these days uses computers
and the internet and, as such, it is very important to minimise their effect on the environment.
When buying a computer, most people want the best they can afford. However, if you don’t need certain features, don’t get them! Go for a smaller system if you can, as it uses much less energy. Laptops are also superior to desktop computers in terms of electricity comsumption – some models use only 50% the amount that desktops do.
Secondly, be sure to enable all the power saving features on your computer for when you’re away for a few minutes or hours. And every night without fail, SWITCH IT OFF!
Try recycle or donate your used computer components. They can very easily be refurbished and given to those in desperate need, such as school children. Visithttp://www.e-waste.org.za for more information.
