Aizawl, Jan 19, 2010: Two Bru militants, suspected to be involved in killing of a 17-year-old Mizo teenage boy, Zarzokima, on November 13, were arrested from a place on Mizoram-Tripura border, state Home Minister R Lalzirliana said here on Jan 18.
He told the mediapersons that self-styled Lieutenant Vanlalfela (35) and Corporal Chusarai (32) were arrested on Jan 17 with documents showing that they were abducting people for ransom and extortion.
“The outfit has been trying to regroup different Bru militants. They told the investigators that they were involved in the killing of Zarzokima near Mizoram-Tripura border Bunghmun hamlet in November,” he said.
He said the duo admitted that they committed the crime to derail the process of repatriation of Brus from the six relief camps in Tripura.
The Home Minister also said the arrested Bru militants were hardcore insurgents who joined the erstwhile underground Bru National Liberation Front (BNLF) and then joined Bru Liberation Front of Mizoram (BLFM).
