Brus call for ‘unconditional’ release of MBDPF secy
Aizawl, Jan 26, 2010: The Mizoram Bru Displaced Peoples Forum (MBDPF) has called for “immediate and unconditional” release of its general secretary Laldawngliana who was arrested on Jan 24 near the Mizoram-Tripura border.
Laldawngliana was held in connection with the murder of a Mizo youth in November last.
MBDPF leader Elvis Chorkhy accusing the Congress-led government of not being “serious” about the plight of the Brus said, “The Government has no respect for the Bru leadership who represents thousands of refugees…We want immediate and unconditional release of our leader.”
Laldawngliana was arrested by Mizoram’s special probe team when he was returning to the relief camp in Tripura after attending talks between the Mizoram government and Bru representatives at Aizawl held on Jan 22.
