3 blasts in Manipur, 2 injured
Tuithraphai (Manipur), Jan 26, 2010: Manipur was rocked by three blasts on the eve of the Republic Day on Jan 25 injuring two policemen. Reports received from Imphal said shocked commuters rushed to the safety of their homes immediately after the blast in Imphal West area.
No militant outfit has claimed responsible for the act which was as a “warning” to people not to celebrate Republic Day today.
The twin blasts were in Imphal West, while the third took place at Nambol in Bishenpur district.
Two police commandos were injured in the twin blasts which were reported near Manipur Mountaineer Training Association in Imphal West district. The injured were rushed to the Regional Instituted of Medical Science hospital.
Official sources said it is suspected that the bombs were exploded by Meitei militant outfit Manipur People’s Liberation Front, which has called for a strike from 1 am to 5.30 pm today.
